War comes to the land and Abram's nephew, Lot, is swept up in it and taken away. It's left to Uncle Abram to save the day and he proves victorious. Soon after, Abram meets Melchizedek, King of Salem and priest of God Most High.

After a disastrous episode in Egypt, Abram returns to worshipping the Lord and calling upon his name. However, the next test is not far off – his prosperity is causing problems. The land can't support the combined weight of Abram and Lot's wealth and so they must separate, but how will Abram approach this tricky decision?

Abraham made a great start. He believed God and left everything to go to the promised land. Sadly, when his belly began to rumble and there was no food to eat due to the famine, his faith seemed to get forgotten and it nearly all ended in disaster.

Revered as the father of faith, Abraham is one of the most important characters in the Bible. This week, we take a look at how God called him to leave his old life and to set out on a new life of faith.

The second in a series of three sermons looking at the topic of the Bible! What is this ancient book really all about?

Spotlight evenings are not usual church services, rather they are topical evenings where we can consider certain subjects in more detail. Mental health struggles represent significant suffering for the afflicted and those supporting them. Confusion and overwhelm are common, and sometimes, can cause us to veer towards unhelpful responses which make matters worse. It can seem that the bible has little to say on such matters. But following biblical principles can help the helper to bring gospel centred compassion, clarity and hope to those walking through this dark valley. They can also help us to see the bible has far more to say about these matters than we might think it does. Psychologist and counsellor, Catherine Haddow, will help us think through these issues.

If we are regularly drinking water from the wells of Salvation we should find these two responses emerging: praise and proclamation. We praise God and we proclaim the glorious things he has done.

After the prophetic warning of judgement, Isaiah looks ahead to a time when deliverance will have occurred, and God's people can joyfully draw water from the wells of Salvation.
